2017 — The Year for Higher Spiritual Enlightenment

Diamond Jubilee Spark :: Teachings of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) on Piety, Din and Duniya

Enlightenment Post No. 32 :: Knowledge & Prayers for Advancement

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Ya Ali Madad! May the Diamond Jubilee Year of Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam (a.s.) bring immense peace and baraka to each and every Ismaili around the world. Ameen.

The upcoming mulaqat of Noor Mowlana Hazar Imam to Eastern Canadian Jamats has brought great happiness to the whole Canadian Jamat and activities are being organized under three major themes: Spiritual enlightenment; unity of the Jamat, and gratitude to Noor Mowlana Hazar Imam.

This enlightenment post covers following topics: (1) Teachings of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) on topics of piety and din versus duniya; (2) the launch of the recitation of Moti Venti and Angelic Salwat project for the upcoming Baitul Khyal satado in Canada starting tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 3, 2017; and (3) the launch of the recitation of Anant Akhado over a period of 40-days starting on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 and culmination on the Salgirah of Noor Mowlana Hazar Imam on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017. These resources are being offered to augment personal search of individuals pursuing higher spiritual enlightenment.

  1. Teachings of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) (Source: Nahjul Balagha (Peak of Eloquence) by Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib Ali, Second U.S. Edition, Tahrike Tarsile Qur'an Inc, Elmhurst, NY, 1981)

  2. In the following excerpts of a Khutba titled 'What is Piety?', NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) teaches us about the relative importance of din and duniya:

'There is no punishment worse than the punishment of God and no reward better than His. Worldly things are better heard than seen and heavenly things are better seen than heard. But in this you must be satisfied with what you hear from the Holy Prophet (s.a.s.) about goodness and grandness of heavenly blessings and be contented with the news of hidden bounties, because you cannot see them when alive.

Remember it is better to have less in the world and more in the next than to have more in this world and less in heavens, because very few things here are really beneficial and many are ultimately harmful.'
(Nahjul Balagha: Sermons, letters and saying of Hazrat Ali, Khutba 117, p. 87)

In the following excerpt of a Khutba titled 'Praise of God and advice to human beings', NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) teaches us how to live in this world:

'All praises are due to Him only, of Whose favours nobody is deprived, of Whose blessings, nobody is left destitute, and of Whose bounties nobody needs despair. One who prays to Him need feel no disgrace or ignominy. His munificence is everlasting and His blessings will never end. The world in its nature is destructible and its inhabitants will have to desert it. To vicious minded people, the perishable pleasures of this life are pleasing, but in actuality life quickly passes away though one may however love it dearly and madly. My advice to you is to pass through life in such a way as to carry good results for the next world: to take from life such things as would be helpful to you in the next [world]'.
(Nahjul Balagha: Sermons, letters and saying of Hazrat Ali, Khutba 50, pp. 34-35)

In the following excerpt of a Khutba titled 'Piety will pay in the long run', NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.) teaches us teaches us the following::

'O Muslims, fear God, follow the path which He hath fixed and lighted for you and obey His commands. And if you are not rewarded in this life, I stand guarantee for your reward [in the] hereafter'.
(Nahjul Balagha: Sermons, letters and saying of Hazrat Ali, Khutba 29, p. 22)
